End of The Line

06/07/2000
If you've ever been around the bleem! message boards, you'd know that there is at least one person whining about bleem not giving any information on a release date for the next version of bleem!. bleem has explained over and over again why they don't give such information out. The reason is that if they miss the date, people'll burn 'em at the stake. I understand and totally agree with bleem's policy on this.

What exactly am I getting at? Well, Valve/Sierra were supposed to release the latest Half-Life patch last week. They missed the date because they wanted to give mod developers more time to convert their mod to the new SDK and whatnot. Okay, fine. Sounds a little fishy, but it's not a big deal. Then it gets delayed again because of a bug. When the next release date rolls around... It's delayed again until further notice.

Now, since I haven't checked any website's for a day or two, I can't say that they haven't released it yet, but that's not the point. I could care less when it's released. Another thing is that I don't ever go to PC game message boards/forums, so I can't say if people are complaining about this or not, but if this was the case for an updated bleem!, a whole lot of people would be bringing bleem and their product down. That is until they find out that the next version works almost perfectly with Vagrant Story... After that they would find something else to complain about.

All I'm trying to get at is be patient, dammit. The same goes for people who are jumpin' off the Nintendo bandwagon. I'm sorry, but Nintendo not releasing information on their next-generation system makes me even more curious and I already want it more then I ever wanted the Dreamcast or PlayStation 2. And that's before any Nintendo game details have been released.

Speaking of Nintendo, I think August 25th is my most anticipated day in this whole year. I think I'm actually looking forward to it more then I was looking forward to going to E3. Just think about it for a second... Nintendo is waiting to show us games that we'll actually be playing this time next year (hopefully). We won't get none of those demos-that-you-see-once-and-never-see-again kind of thing. ...Then again, maybe I'm anticipating too much? Am I just a fanboy who thinks that Nintendo can do no wrong? God I hope not. A fanboy I may be, but I'll be the first to admit that Nintendo has made quite a few mistakes. But I'm willing to forgive as long as they give me the quality titles they're known for.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be an anti-Sony person... Er, well, no, actually, I am an anti-Sony person, but that doesn't mean the PlayStation/2 is a bad thing. I'm looking forward to it quite a bit, but the only thing I find kind of sad is that I want the DVD capabilities more than anything else.... For now. The PlayStation 2 has got some great looking titles coming out, but none of the launch titles interest me all that much. Of course I haven't looked at the full list yet, so I may go home with more than the system alone. The one title I might consider buying (if nothing I really want pops up) is Gran Turismo 2000, that's it. I'm not a Tekken guy and I'm not a sports guy... Nope.

Then... The Dreamcast. There are just too many damn games coming out. And quite a few that I'm missing out on right now. But come on, Shenmue is coming out later this year. Who isn't even slightly interested in that game? I've not found a single soul.
But you've heard all the talk haven't ya? "Once PS2 comes out, Dreamcast is gone"... I find this very hard to believe. But if they're talking developer's jumping ship, then I might tend to agree. A lot of the big developers/publishers are Sony's bitches. You know exactly who I'm talking about. Companies such as Electronic Art's, Square, Eidos and so on. Those are the top three developers/publishers and they're all in bed with Sony at the same time. I find it sad, really. Thank the good Lord for companies like Capcom. Of course I'd love it if any of these companies proved that I was an uninformed moron. Yes, that would please me.

So like (like, like and more like), I got my Legend of Mana "Music Selection" CD. But I don't have the game, as sad as it may be. I won't have the money 'til next week and I just wanted to assure myself a copy of the CD. Now I have another soundtrack on my "To buy list". Wonderful.

Then next month is Threads of Fate... Then in August, Chrono Cross and hopefully Lunar 2. With those and Space World all happening in the same month, I'll be in heaven for a short thirty or so days. This is a year of the video game... But when is it not?

Xenogears now has a new rival as to being my favorite PlayStation RPG. That game is Vagrant Story. If this game get's any better, which I'm willing to bet it will, it'll take the coveted (not really) spot that Xenogears has held for the past year and eight months. Of course it's not a "True RPG" but it's close enough for me.

The weird thing is that I wasn't really looking forward to it all that much. It looked somewhat interesting, though I stopped reading previews about a year ago, so I didn't give it a fair chance. I was looking forward to Threads of Fate (Dew Prism at the time) more than this. Not that I'm not looking forward to Threads of Fate, I've been extremely hyped for it since I first read about it. But I'm not hyped for anything like I'm hyped for Chrono Cross... At least on the PlayStation side of things. That isn't including PlayStation 2, mind you.

I've been pondering, again, as to what I could add to my site. "What do OTHER people have on their site's that I don't?" I ask myself. THoR has got stories, a big audience, letters, a guy with a witty-bastard-like sense of humor who's smart and sexy. Along with many other things. I'm screwed.
One of the mad skillz that I do not have is writing. Some people say I can write, but I highly disagree with this. I just don't feel that any of my so-called "writings" are any good. Of course my opinions can change on some subject's like the wind (??), so maybe that has something to do with it?

Hmm... I seem to go off on other subject's in the middle of a subject... Weird, yeah? What's even more annoying is that I noticed it.
